Midwifery Services
Prenatal Care
After your initial meet and greet session with me, we will begin scheduled prenatal visits to check on the well-being of you and your baby. These visits will occur once a month until 28 weeks and then every two weeks until 36 weeks, and then weekly until delivery of your baby. During these visits I will be checking your blood pressure, pulse, weight, the baby's heart rate and growth. We will also discuss your diet and water intake as well as answer any questions or concerns that you have. Your older children are welcome at your appointments. The initial appointment generally lasts about a 60-90 minutes and subsequent appointments usually last around 30 minutes.
Now providing hybrid prenatal appointments.
Birth
When you think you may be in labor it is best to give me a call even if this isn't "go time". This allows me to assess what may be going on over the telephone and possibly give you some guidance as to how to make yourself more comfortable and what to expect. Once we decide it is time for me to join you, I will come to your house. I will monitor you and the baby by periodically taking vital signs and listening to your baby's heart rate. I can also assist with suggestions that might help you labor more comfortably. Once your labor is rather progressed, I will call an assistant to join me to ensure that both mom and baby remain safe throughout birth. I will remain with you from 2 to 4 hours after your baby is born to continue to monitor both you and baby.
Postpartum & Newborn Care
I will return to your house between 24 and 48 hours after birth to check on you and your baby. During this visit I will do vital signs on both of you and answer any questions or concerns you have. I will also assess how breast-feeding is going and assist if needed. When your baby is two weeks old I will see you and baby in my office to check on you again. I will do vital signs and weights on both of you and answer any questions or concerns that you have. I will see you again six weeks after your birth to make sure that baby is growing well and you are also recovering well. At any point after your birth through six weeks postpartum I am available to visit you at your home or talk to you on the telephone.
